Jamestown CC’s Big Second Quarter Proves Decisive

ELYRIA, Ohio — A 25-11 second quarter proved to be the difference as Jamestown Community College pulled away for a 64-50 NJCAA women’s basketball win over Lorain County CC on Monday evening.

Natalie Houle led a trio of Jayhawks in double figures with 16 points while Emilee Sperry added 14 points and Kaleigh Brunswick had 10 points.

Lorain County CC took a four-point lead with 6:05 remaining in the first quarter and led 20-19 after the opening 10 minutes before the Jayhawks went on their run.

Jamestown CC’s edge grew to its largest at 16 points with 57 seconds left in the third quarter.

Madi Bonner led the Commodores with 13 points while Heather Smyth added 11 in the loss.

Brianne Davis led the Jayhawks with 10 rebounds and Sydney Wight added eight. Davis also handed out four assists to go along with four steals while Sperry picked up three steals.

Jamestown CC finished 22 of 59 (37.3 percent) from the field, including 9 of 22 (40.9 percent) from 3-point range.

Lorain County CC was 19 of 53 (35.8 percent) from the field, including 4 of 19 (21.1 percent) from beyond the arc.
