Fourth-Quarter Run Lifts Randolph Past Allegany-Limestone

RANDOLPH — Tyler Hind and Jarrett Lecceadone spearheaded a fourth-quarter run that helped Randolph improve to 5-0 in the Division 1 East boys basketball Friday night.

Hind scored 10 points and Lecceadone was even better with 13 in the final period as the Cardinals went on a 26-13 run to pull out a 63-54 decision over Allegany-Limestone.

Both Hind and Lecceadone wound up with 19 points to lead the Cardinals, now 11-4 overall. Hind had six assists, Jake Beaver added four and Lecceadone had 12 rebounds.

Randolph got off to a good start with a 20-8 first quarter, but Zack Hemphill and Sam Flanders brought the Gators back into contention. Hempfield had 16 points and Flanders had 15.

The Cardinals had a big advantage at the foul line as they hit 17-of-21 attempts compared to 9-of-21 for Allegany-Limestone. Hind made seven free throws and Lecceadone had six free tosses.

BRAWDY HITS 1,000

GOWANDA  — Nate Brawdy went over 1,000 points for his career and Gowanda posted a 68-47 Division 1 East victory over Portville.

Brawdy poured in 32 points to reach the 30-point mark for the third time this season, Jarmani Benton added 18, including 16 in the first half. Brawdy also grabbed 16 rebounds and Benton handed out seven assists.

Kloc recorded 17 points and 10 rebounds for Portville (4-10, 1-4).

JAMESTOWN FALLS

Jamestown (4-4, 5-7) got behind early and was never able to catch up in dropping a 57-34 decision to front-running Frontier (6-0, 9-3) in an Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 game at McElrath Gymnasium.

Kruszka scored 16 of her game-high 20 points in the first half as Frontier built up a 35-13 lead. Michelle Berry contributed 14 points.

Jamestown was led by Allie Stockwell and Bailey Indelicato with eight points apiece. Olivia Reinhardt had five rebounds and McKenzie Swanson added four boards while Indelicato handed out three assists.

LYNN LEADS WAY

FREWSBURG — Paced by a fine all-around game by Olivia Lynn, Frewsburg posted a 55-26 victory over Clymer in a Division 2 West game.

Lynn tallied 14 points to go along with eight steals, six rebounds and five blocked shots, but she had plenty of help as all nine Bears scored.

Gabby Iuculano had 13 points and four steals; Kaitlyn Blanchard collected nine points, five steals and four rebounds; Dani Gray grabbed six rebounds; and Hannah Boardman added six steals as Frewsburg improved to 11-2 overall and 5-0 in the division.

The Pirates fell to 5-6 and 1-3.

FRANZEN SHINES FOR PANAMA

PANAMA — Karen Franzen came off the bench and sparked Panama to a 66-42 win over Westfield for its fifth win in its last six starts in Division 2 West.

Franzen scored seven points in the decisive second quarter when the Lady Panthers broke open a close game with a 19-12 run.

Abi Lisciandro and Ellie Angeletti also chipped in the second period by coming off the bench and providing solid minutes for Panama, which is now 8-4 overall.

Nicole Johnson led the Lady Panthers with 15 points followed by Natalie Angeletti with 13, including 10 in the second quarter, and Franzen with 12.

Natalie Angeletti had 12 rebounds and Madalyn Bowen had five assists.

Maddison Knapp had 12 points and Sophia DeMarco 11 for Westfield.  Knapp recorded three assists and three steals while DeMarco blocked three shots.

MICEK LEADS FALCONER

FALCONER — Amber Micek grabbed 16 rebounds and had 12 points as Falconer (2-5, 5-7) downed Dunkirk, 45-33, in Division 1 West girls basketball.

The Lady Golden Falcons took the lead for good with a 14-5 second quarter as six different girls scored.

Chelsea Vincent also had 12 points for Falconer while teammate Katie Fales added seven rebounds. Rachel Baglia added three assists and Vincent stole the ball three times.

Kim Nance was high for Dunkirk with 16 points.

GULLO SHOWS THE WAY

Hannah Gullo’s hot second half lifted Fredonia to a 47-38 win over Maple Grove in Division 1 West action.

Gullo hit a 3-pointer to end the third quarter that put the Lady Hillbillies ahead, 35-32, then, made eight points with two treys in the final period.

Caitlyn Cybart recorded 15 points and six rebounds for the winners while Gracie Morrison had 12 rebounds and five blocks, and Katie Price added five assists. Morgan St. George added five rebounds in the win.

Marissa Schuppenhauer and Courtney Hemminger had nine points each for Maple Grove (2-5, 7-6), which was beaten by Fredonia in the first meeting, 62-17.

Caleigh Swanson led the Lady Red Dragons with 12 rebounds while Bre Hill and Schuppenhauer added eight each.

EAGLES CRUISE TO WIN

ELLICOTTVILLE — The Ellicottville Lady Eagles put together a tremendous first half and cruised to a 59-27 Division 2 East victory over Pine Valley.

Marissa Hamilton led the way with 16 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds and four blocks, and Linnea Jimerson added a career-high 18 points, five rebounds and three steals as the Lady Eagles raised their record to 11-1 overall and 4-1 in the division.

Evie Cortez turned in a strong defensive game, helping the hosts build a 40-14 lead at intermission.

The loss dropped the Lady Panthers to 10-2 and 3-2.
