Fishing Report

CHAUTAUQUA LAKE

Due to recent unseasonably warmth and rain, local officials are urging anglers to stay off Chautauqua Lake for any ice fishing/snow shedding.

LAKE ERIE AND TRIBS

Anglers are reporting improved action on area tributaries for a mix of dark and fresh steelhead. The smaller streams are your best bet today, which currently have moderate flows with good color. All streams, except Cattaraugus Creek, will be options this weekend. Productive wintertime steelhead baits include egg sacs, egg flies, trout beads and small jigs tipped with a waxworm (fished under a float).

UPPER NIAGARA RIVER

Upper river waters are murky green today and chunk ice has cleared out of most shoreline areas. Anglers have picked up some yellow perch at Beaver Island Marina on emerald shiners. Other open marinas are also worth a shot for perch.

All other bodies of water are either reporting nothing or have unsafe conditions for fishing.
