Helga Hulse, a longtime and well-known Jamestown area piano teacher, is pictured speaking at Chautauqua Institution Wednesday about her landmark program to teach classical music to the incarcerated. Sheriff Joseph Gerace was in attendance via videoconference and provided his observations on Hulse's music education efforts to reduce recidivism and improve inmate outcomes. Hulse's appearance was made possible by the Road Scholar program, an educational travel organization for adults. Hulse, 93, also reflected on her more than 70 years of teaching piano while at Chautauqua this week.
