J. Maxine Olson, 78, of Falconer, passed away Tuesday (July 22, 2014) in Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
A lifelong area resident she was born Sept. 17, 1935, in Falconer, the daughter of the late Clarence and Judith Carlson Peterson.
Maxine was a graduate of Falconer High School and prior to retirement was employed by Lutheran Social Services as an executive secretary.
She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church having served as church secretary. Maxine enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading, crossword puzzles and most of all spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughter, Heidi (Quint) Lawson of Falconer; her son, Erik "Rik" (Linda) Olson of Busti; three grandchildren: Timothy Lawson of Falconer, Steven Olson of Buffalo and Kirsten Olson of Busti; two sisters: Caryl Mattison and Fanchon (Robert) Fuller, all of Falconer; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband George C. Olson, whom she married Dec. 19, 1953, in Falconer, who died March 16, 2010; three brothers: Leland, Duane and Warren Peterson; and a sister, Shirley Olsen.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Dan Nagle of First Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer.
Friends will be received by the family from 5-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be donated to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Falconer Public Library, LSS Foundation Rehab Unit or the Falconer Fire Department.
