FREWSBURG - An area resident recently celebrated a milestone that few have had the opportunity to experience.
On Saturday, friends, family and other residents gathered at Carroll Manor II to celebrate the 100th birthday of Charlotte Burnap, who officially became a centenarian on Friday.
Throughout the course of the birthday celebration, more than 75 visitors came by to wish Burnap a happy birthday. Burnap said the party was the first she's had in many years and she was pleased with the number of attendees.

"I'm very impressed that I have so many friends who stuck around," she said jokingly. "I've had a wonderful day."
According to Liz Yager, Burnap's granddaughter, Burnap has been a lifelong Upstate New York resident and she moved to the area approximately five years ago to be with her family. She said Burnap is currently living independently in an unassisted living arrangement with the manor, where she still tends her own garden and is, overall, still quite active for her age.
Also in attendance was Burnap's niece, Barbara Zielinski, who shared fond memories of her aunt.
"She always was a fun lady, and she loved younger children," Zielinski said. "She baby-sat my children, and they affectionately referred to as 'Auntie Char.' But the big thing is that she lived to be 100. That's an amazing feat."
