CATTARAUGUS - Marilyn A. Wasmund, 80, of Eden Heights in Olean formerly of 78 Jefferson St. in Cattaraugus, N.Y., passed away Dec. 24, 2013, at Olean General Hospital.
She was born July 6, 2013, in Otto, N.Y., the daughter of the late Ralph and Alice (Maus) Botsford.
On May 4, 1953, she married David Wasmund, who predeceased her on Dec. 10, 2006.
She was employed at the Corner Drug Store in Cattaraugus, N.Y., for 33 years.
She was a member of St. John's UCC Church in Cattaraugus, Cattaraugus Fireman's Womens Unit and its treasurer and a Town of New Albion Councilwomen, all for many years. She also was a member of and past president of the Cattaraugus Ambulance Service since 1955, Civic League, Skyline Pool, Little Valley American Legion Auxiliary and the Let's Travel Club. She also was an avid bowler and Euchre player.
Mrs. Wasmund is survived by a son, Ronald (Betty) Wasmund of Otto, N.Y.; three daughters, Lynda (Terry) Bradley of East Otto, N.Y., Sharon Feely of Olean, N.Y. and Wende Porter of Orchard Park, N.Y.; five granddaughters, Sheila (Wirt Smith) Johnston of Cattaraugus, Deven (Eric) Adams of Ravenna, Ohio, Jessica (David) Hojnacki of Gowanda, N.Y., Renee (Keegan Lachut) Allen of Buffalo, N.Y., and Brittany Porter of Orchard Park, N.Y.; three grandsons, Samuel (Jessica) Johnston of Springville, N.Y., Chad (Jennifer) Wasmund of North Tonawanda, N.Y., and Nicholas Feely of Ladylake, Fla.; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Fay) Botsford of Cattaraugus, N.Y., and Marvin (Alix) Botsford of Seminole, Okla.; a sister, Jeanette Firth of California; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband she was predeceased by a sister, Mae Eleanor Nuse.
Friends may call at the Mentley Funeral Home Inc. 411 Rock City St. in Little Valley, N.Y., on Friday Dec. 27, 2013, from 24 and 79 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at 11 a.m. from St. John's UCC Church in Cattaraugus, N.Y.
Burial will be in Liberty Park Cemetery.
