Barry R. Nelson, 54, of Falconer passed away unexpectedly Monday (Dec. 16, 2013) in his home.
A lifelong area resident he was born May 12, 1959, in Jamestown, the son of Richard A. and Joan New-ton Nelson.
Barry was a graduate of Falconer High School and Jamestown Community College earning a degree in criminal justice. While attending JCC he had also studied in England. He was currently employed by Monofrax in Falconer.

Barry was a member of the Independent Order of Vikings Club and was an accomplished guitar player having been a member of several area bands. He also enjoyed animals, especially cats and motocross racing.
He was an avid Cleveland Browns and New York Yankees fan.
He is survived by his parents: Richard and Joan Nelson of Jamestown; his aunt, Johanna (Tim) Holt, and aunt, Joanne Newton; and cousins: Sandra (Glen) Kent, Daniel (Sarah) Holt, Randall Sprague, Kellie L. Newton, Scott (Trina) Newton.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Merle and Florence Newton and paternal grandparents: Arthur and Ruth Nelson; his uncle, Durwood Newton and cousin, Tim Sprague.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Timothy Hoyer, pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
