Gregory G. Di Maio, 67, of Southwestern Drive, Lakewood, passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, in WCA Hospital.
He was born Nov. 2, 1946, in Jamestown, the son of Madelaine Vogalla Di Maio Risley and the late Guido Di Maio.
Greg served in the U.S. Army as an engine instructor during the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement, he was a product development engineer at Cummins Engine. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lakewood, and a member of the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion in Celoron, the Viking Lodge, Busti Fire Department, Jamestown Rifle Club, National Rifle Association and the Jamestown Audubon Society.
He enjoyed farming, photography, woodworking, target shooting, working on cars and most importantly, spending time with his family.
Surviving besides his mother of Frewsburg are his wife, Donna DiMaggio Di Maio, with whom he celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary June 8, 2013; three daughters: Andrea Di Maio of Jamestown, Megan Di Maio of Rochester, and Theresa (Jason) Youngberg of Falconer; a grandson, Lukas Youngberg; a granddaughter due in April; and a brother, Alexander (Mary Beth) Di Maio of Frewsburg.
He was preceded in death by his father on June 23, 1996; and two brothers: Douglas Di Maio, and an infant, Mark Di Maio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Piotr Zaczynski, pastor, will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 24 p.m. and 79 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home.
