MAYVILLE - Chautauqua County Executive Gregory J. Edwards announced today Chautauqua County Attorney Stephen Abdella will serve out the remainder of his term as acting County Executive.
Abdella will serve as acting County Executive from Nov. 18 through Dec. 31, and he will take on this new role in addition to his current responsibilities as county attorney. Pursuant to the County Charter, Abdella was designated by Edwards in 2006 to be acting County Executive in his absence and was confirmed by the County Legislature at that time, so no additional legislative action will be necessary now.

"As I pursue my new career as executive director of the Gebbie Foundation, I know that I am leaving the people of Chautauqua County in good hands while they await the inauguration of County Executive-elect Vince Horrigan on Jan. 1."
Abdella served as county attorney from 1992-97 and was appointed again in 2006. He served as counsel to the County Legislature from 1999-2005 and again since 2008.
