Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" L. Sluga, age 79, of Route 353, Salamanca, N.Y., died Saturday morning, Nov. 9, 2013, at the Olean General Hospital, Olean, N.Y., following a short illness.
Born July 29, 1934, in Salamanca, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Frances Kozloski Magara.
Mrs. Sluga was married June 20, 1959, at the former St. Patrick's Church, Salamanca, N.Y., to William A. Sluga, who survives.
Mrs. Sluga was a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, Salamanca, N.Y.
She enjoyed crocheting, bingo, working in her garden and hanging lawn decorations. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren.
Surviving are: one son, William "Billyjoe" J. Sluga, Salamanca, N.Y.; one granddaughter, Jennifer (Cale) Benjamin, Kill Buck, N.Y.; three great-grandchildren: Reese, Rylan and Rose Benjamin, all of Kill Buck, N.Y.; two brothers: Raymond Magara, Hinsdale, N.Y., and Walter Magara, Jamestown, N.Y.; two sisters: Shirley Emerson, Ellicottville, N.Y., and Rosemary (Joseph) Kennedy, Knoxville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters: Agnes Guskowski and Catherine McManus; two brothers: Frank Magara and James Magara.
Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca, N.Y., on Tues-day from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m. with Deacon Michael Anderson officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the donor's choice.
