George Edwin Sisson Sr. of Gerry entered the gates of heaven Nov. 5, 2013.
George was born Sept. 25, 1937, in Machias, N.Y. to Glen & Mabel (O'Neil) Sisson. He graduated from Delevan Machias High School in 1956, Bryant & Stratton Business Institute in 1958 with an accounting degree, partnered on the family's dairy farm until 1961, and received an associate degree in office management from Alfred State University in 1963.
Following graduation, George worked for National Biscuit Co. in Buffalo, N.Y. and Battle Creek, Mich., before purchasing a dairy farm from The Gerry Homes (Gerry, N.Y.) in 1967. He was then employed by Marine Midland Bank (Jamestown, N.Y.) from 1970-94 as an assistant vice president where he effectively managed the Farm Plan division. After retiring from banking, George served as a financial consultant for Gramco (Springville, N.Y.) until retiring again in 2011. Known for his work ethic, infectious smile and laugh, there was neither a farmer nor a restauranteur in Upstate New York that he didn't know. He loved people!
