LAKEWOOD - The Lakewood Memorial Library will exhibit photography by Terrie L. Johnson and the Shared Reflections Photography Club from Nov. 1-30.
"My interest in photography really began in college, at Alfred State," Johnson said. "The photography and graphics professors at Alfred helped me see the world in different ways, and it has continued to touch my life and bring me great pleasure. When I moved to Los Angeles, to pursue a career in computer graphics (CADCAM) at Hughes Aircraft, I purchased my first 'real' camera and it became a good friend that helped me explore the coast and the diverse environment I found there."
Over the years, Johnson has continued to enjoy taking photographs with the evolution to digital photography.
"Digital photography and the easily accessible, and often free, software and websites available have opened up an entirely new level of exploring design and what one can create," Johnson said. "My husband also enjoys photography, and now that our daughters are getting older it has been a wonderful experience seeing the world again through their eyes and through their photographs."
The Shared Reflections Photography Club was started a little more than a year ago and has been a wonderful experience sharing with the young adults as well as our more mature members as they grow and discover the joys of photography for themselves, Johnson said.
Six local members: Marly Kester, Brittany Fuller, Ashley Johnson, Kristin Johnson, Jane Spencer, Charles Pegan and one distance/facebook member, Lora Lindsey, will also be exhibiting some of their work. Beginners and experienced photographers can meet with the group the second Thursday of each month from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Lakewood Memorial Library.
There will be an open reception for the public to meet Johnson and the club participants and view their work from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The library is located at 12 W. Summit St., Lakewood. For information, call 763-6234.
