Joyce Allene Gruber, 54, of Sugar Grove, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice Home in Warren.
Joyce was born in Jamestown, N.Y., on May 16, 1959, the daughter of the late Beverly Strobel and Miles Gardner.
She was a 1977 graduate of Jamestown High School and obtained her CNA license in 1994. She married the love of her life, Wayne, on Nov. 22, 1980. Together they owned and operated GlaDon Farms, established by his parents in 1948.
She enjoyed Thursday night dinners with special friends if her chores were done, and practical jokes including knots and spearmint. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid volunteer at the Warren County Fair serving ice cream in the Farm Bureau Booth and loved to watch the kids show their cattle.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne; her four children: Jessica and Andy Gourley and their children: Megan and Dylan, Rebecca Hartford and daughter, Adyson, Crystal Gruber and her children, Marissa and Jamason (Bubba), and Matthew Gruber and special friend, Alison. She is also survived by brothers: Ed, Jim and Rick Gardner, and their families; and sister, Tina Brown and her family.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Ed and Allene Youngberg; a brother, Bruce Gardner; father and motherinlaw, Don and Gladys Gruber; and special friend, Oscar Pierson.
Friends will casually be received on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 25 p.m. at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. following the visitation with Pastor Marcus Briggs officiating. All are invited to join the family in the church social rooms for a meal following the service.
