STOW - Bryan D. King, of Morley Road, Ashville, N.Y., formerly of Mayville, Westfield, and Ridgway, Pa., passed away on Oct. 6, 2013, at the home of his sister in Stow, N.Y.
He was born March 30, 1956 in Westfield, N.Y., the son of Mary E. (Bowser) and J. Bryan (Buster) King.
Bryan was a 1974 graduate of Westfield Academy and Central School. He was employed at various jobs in Westfield, N.Y., Ridgway, Pa., and most recently at The Hadley House in Stow, N.Y.
He always loved the out-doors and spent many hours walking and enjoying nature. He was looking forward to travelling to Colorado to hike Pikes Peak with his grandchildren and then taking them to Ridgway to hike Bootjack Hill. Bryan had a great sense of humor and made friends wherever he went. He had a very special place in his heart for the elderly and for children.
Bryan was a social member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he proudly served in the military honor detail in Ridgway.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Patricia (Robert) Allen of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his son, Sgt. 1st Class Bryan J. King, U.S. Army Special Forces Airborne, currently stationed at Fort Carson, Colo., grandchildren: Ethan Wise, Kylie, Niah and Jade Allen; sisters: Vickie (Frank) Stow, Lenae (Mike) Eck, Leah (Nate) Betts and Erica (Gary) King Williams.
He is also survived by his longtime friend, Gayle Anderson and stepchildren: Lisa (Dave Smith), Anna, and James Anderson of Pennsylvania, and Liz Kimbel, Linnea, Paul, and Tom Adolf; along with his many nieces, and nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by Freay's Funeral Home in Mayville. As were his wishes, there will be no formal service. A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 9, beginning at 3 p.m. at the North Harmony Senior Citizens Building at 5387 Stow Road, Ashville, N.Y.
