Yvonne Lord, author of "Faith-Filled Family Crafts," will present a craft demonstration and sign copies of her book at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Prendergast Library.
The book is published by Inspiring Voices and will be available to purchase for $21.50.
Lord has taught crafts to adults as well as children and served as director of crafts for a summer camp. She is a former member of the Society of Craft Designers
In her book, Lord provides easy-to-follow instructions for projects such as dove pillows, photo mats, Bible book covers, inspirational books and jewelry, nativity puppets, and cards. She includes lists of needed supplies, and accompanying photos help people work their way through each project. Both beginning and experienced crafters may also enjoy adding their own unique touches as they finish a handmade item.
Lord believes that growing and nurturing faith within families helps them stay strong during challenging times.
"My faith is a very important part of my life, and I felt led to write a book connecting crafts and faith. It is surprising how a faith-based craft project opens up an opportunity to share your faith with others," she said.
The author lives in Franklinville, where she enjoys spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She launched her book at the Blount Library in Franklinville in July and will visit the Olean Public Library a week before her Jamestown appearance.
Prendergast Library is located at 509 Cherry St., Jamestown. For information, call 484-7135. There is no charge to watch the craft demonstration.
