Shared VBS, a partnership with Immanuel, Bethel and First Lutheran churches, recently met at Bethel Lutheran Church.
The program served 60 children and engaged 30 volunteers from the partnership of churches and community members. Each day youth traveled to different learning centers where they sang, learned a Bible lesson, played games, created a desert painting on canvas, wrote verses of a song and enjoyed snacks.
The mission project goal this year was to raise $300 to provide 30 backpacks, filled with school supplies, for the 5-7-year-old children attending the JNP Camp at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Not only did participants meet the goal, but they raised $800 through church and community donations.

Because more than double the goal was raised, the partnership is now able to provide a total of 70 students - attending the JNP and Eastside Y day camps - with new backpacks filled with back-to-school supplies.
