BROCTON - The Brocton and Westfield communities gathered Saturday night for prayers and counseling at Brocton Central School for Brocton student Damon Janes.
The junior running back was injured during Friday night's Class D high school football game against Portville.
Janes took a helmet-to-helmet hit during the third quarter of Friday night's game and was carted off the field. The game was called after the hit and Janes was sent to Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo.
As of Saturday night, Janes was still in the intensive care unit and no further information was available, except for the following Facebook post, which was entered earlier in the day.
"The family has asked that NO ONE BUT THE VERY IMMEDIATE FAMILY come to the hospital. They are so touched and grateful for the amazing support everyone is showing them and Damon and they thank you from the bottom of their hearts. Unfortunately, it is also very overwhelming at this point."
