Southwestern began the girls tennis season by downing Fredonia, 4-1, in the West League on Wednesday.
The Lady Trojans received wins from second singles Morgan Johnson and third singles Elizabeth Rowan and victories from first doubles Victoria Van Every and Mikayla Johnson and second doubles Leigh Yartz and Daisie Bancroft.

RED DRAGONS PREVAIL
Maple Grove began its season on a winning note, edging Chautauqua Lake, 3-2.
After Samantha Robbins-Welty edged Corrine Cardinale, 6-4 and 6-3, in first singles to give Chautauqua Lake the early advantage, the Lady Red Dragons won the next three matches to clinch the victory.
Yuika Suzuki and Samantha Hallett delivered the match-clinching victory at first doubles with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Megan Stahlsmith and Charity Ludwig.
