CATTARAUGUS - The Cattaraugus-Little Valley Central School District tax warrant for the 2013-14 school year has been approved.
At last week's Board of Education meeting, a motion was passed authorizing the district to begin collection on the approved tax levy amount of $5,430,024.
The motion provides an ending collection date of Oct. 31, giving the warrant an effective period of 60 days. It further directed that no interest will be charged during the month of September, and 2 percent will be charged on all taxes collected from Oct. 1 through Nov. 1. The district's 2013-14 tax rate reflects a 1.66 percent increase, with a tax levy increase of $88,488 over that of 2012-13.
Other business included several personnel appointments. Ralph Wilson was appointed as interim middle school principal and director of special education. Also approved to positions for the 2013-14 school year were Hugh Duckwall, substitute teacher, and Michele Dankert as a full-time teacher aide with a one-year probationary period.
Several instructional and non-instructional appointments were also approved.
A superintendent report included the topics of district awards, accomplishments and achievements, the Common Core Learning Standards and the district budget. A board president's report included a board evaluation, a review of the Academic Integrity policy, a look at goals for the district, board of education questions for interviews, a capital project update and discussion on a single location for voting and tax collection.
