Jamestown High School Class of 1948 held its 65th reunion at the Moon Brook Country Club on Aug. 24, with 108 alumni and guests attending.
The master of ceremonies was Gordon Black, followed by Joanne Lundgren, who gave a short greeting and the invocation. Alumni who had traveled distances to attend were recognized, with Lawrence Anderson giving a greeting from Sweden. Classmates deceased since the last reunion were honored. Austin Swanson read several poems written by their beloved class adviser, Florence McGuirl, to the class over the years.
In addition, Martha Boulanger Sweet closed the evening by presenting a musical program highlighting the art of aging, along with leading the class in their Alma Mater, pep and class song.
To highlight the 65th reunion, the class had received contributions from the alumni to create a scholarship fund to be distributed at the 2014 Jamestown High School graduation.
