FREDONIA - Maddie Crandall's 15 assists, three aces and as many kills led the Fredonia Lady Hillbillies (1-0) past the Cassadaga Valley Lady Cougars (0-1), 25-12, 25-19, 23-25, 25-13, Thursday in non-league girls volleyball action.
Makenzie Tarnowski contributed in the win with nine kills and three aces while Lea Richir finished with 19 digs for the winners. Margaret Wright and Emily Ludwig combined for 10 kills and four aces for the Lady Hillbillies.
"The team played good," Fredonia coach Chris Anderson said. "We switched some defensive stuff at the beginning of week. We played the ball very well towards the end of the match. It's always good to get that first game in and get the nerves out. We start league next week."
