BUTLER, Pa. - Christina Rauh was named to the all-tournament team as Jamestown Community College's volleyball team went 3-1 and finished second to host Butler County CC in the Butler CCC Early Bird Kickoff.
Rauh recorded 21 assists, three kills and 14 digs; Mandy Finch two kills, 15 digs and a block; Shannon Gunnell four kills and five digs; and Michelle Bach two kills and five blocks when JCC lost to Butler, 20-25, 23-25, for the title.
JCC began the tournament by beating Allegany (Md.) CC, 25-10, 26-24, led by Rauh with three aces, nine assists, three kills and a block. Finch had an ace, six kills and four digs while Gunnell added six kills and a dig and Bach four kills and two blocks.
The Jayhawks then downed Cecil (Md.) CC, 25-8, 25-9, as Rauh recorded an ace, three assists, five kills and a dig; Finch two aces, four kills and four digs; and Kaitlyn Nye four aces and 11 assists.
Finally, JCC swept CCBC, 25-8, 25-11, when Rauh had three aces, 16 assists, a dig and a block. Finch contributed two aces, two kills, eight digs and a block and Gunnell three aces, six kills and two digs.
''I'm very happy,'' JCC coach Ashley Lund said. ''We had struggled with certain things in practice, but when game time came those things went away, and the girls stepped up and played well as a team.''
The Jayhawks will be back in action next Saturday at the Alfred State Tournament.
