FALCONER - To go along with new carpeting and a newly painted room, the Falconer Village Board has new chairs to sit in as well.
Thanks to a donation from Fancher Chair Co., located at 121 S. Work St., Falconer, the Village Board has the new chairs for their monthly board meetings. The business gave six chairs to the village for the board room in the Community Building, located at 101 W. Main St., Falconer.
Gary Henry, Fancher Chair Co. chief executive officer, said through the years, the business has helped with donations to the community when they can.

"We've been in the community a long time. We've been here 206 years,'' he said. ''Through the years, we've (the business and the community) gone back and forth helping each other out."
Henry said each chair cost about $200 to manufacture. He said for the village to buy the chairs from a retail store new, the price probably would have been around $400 each.
Sam Ognibene, Falconer Public Works Department supervisor, said Pete Scheira, Fancher Chair Co. president, was more than willing to help the community when he was told about the need for new chairs for the village board room.
"When I told Pete he said, 'I have something for you,'" Ognibene said about the donation from Fancher Chair. "We're fortunate to be in a small community where people are willing to help."
Gloria Anderson, village clerk, said they had the old chairs for about 20 years. She said they were starting to show wear and needed replaced.
"These new chairs coordinate well with the new carpeting. At least better than the old turquoise chairs," she said.
David Krieg, Falconer mayor, sent Fancher Chair a thank you letter after the donation.
"We are very proud of Fancher Chair today, and of their history in the village of Falconer," Krieg wrote. "Thank you for providing good jobs, and a good product. We look forward to many, many more years of Fancher's continued presents in our community. Fancher Chair is another positive reason that makes the village of Falconer a great place to live, work and raise families."
