MAYVILLE - Mayville, a village located on the north end of Chautauqua Lake, features a vide variety of opportunities for area residents and visitors to enjoy a day, week, month or a whole season on the lake.
The Village of Mayville is home to Lakeside Park, which is where a variety of events are held throughout the summer and winter seasons.
To give area residents and visitors a reason to get outside during the summer months, free live music is held at Lakeside Park each Thursday at 6:30 p.m. through the end of the August. The series features local and regional acts. Upcoming performances include: The Blue Mule Band, Thursday; Randy Graham, Aug. 15; My Sweet Patootie and Rainbow the Clown, Aug. 22; Country Royalty and Rainbow the Clown, Aug. 29.

For those who would rather get out on the lake itself, The Chautauqua Belle, located at 78 Water St. in Mayville, offers a summer concert series and themed cruises for those who don't have a boat of their own. As part of The Chautauqua Belle's "Belle Bash Summer Concert Series," the steamship will host several live performances through August.
The series will feature two more dates. Instrumental rock band, Los Straitjackets, will entertain guests of the Belle on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. For more information visit straitjackets.com.
Although the series has primarily been held on Sundays, the finale will be held Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 6:30 p.m. The concert will feature Eilen Jewell, who released her debut album, "Boundary County," in 2006. Lakeside Park also annually plays host to the Jamestown Regional Celtic Festival and Gathering of the Clans, which is in its eighth year of operation. This year's festival is set to begin with a kickoff party Friday, Aug. 23, at 6 p.m. Festivities will continue from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24.
The event aims to showcase nearly 20 regional clans and features Heavy Scottish Games with world record-breaking attempts, pipe band concerts, Celtic music by the Celtic Circle Ceilidh Band from Youngstown, competitions and food vendors.
