DEWITTVILLE - More children can attend Camp Onyahsa thanks to a donation from the Kendall Club.
Members of the Kendall Club were at Camp Onyahsa on Wednesday to present a check for $3,200. The money will be used to help children and their families to afford the cost of camp.
Kendall Club President Tom Shea, Treasurer Floyd Kent and Joe Genco, past president and current member, presented the check to Jon O'Brian, YMCA Camp Onyahsa director. Daniel Bracey, who was recently honored for his ongoing support and continued dedication to YMCA Camp Onyahsa, was in attendance as well, with his wife, Elizabeth.

"Every year, we hold a golf tournament and donated all of the proceeds to a charitable organization," Kent said. "This year, we decided to donate the proceeds to Camp Onyahsa."
The idea to donate to Camp Onyahsa came when Daniel Bracey contacted the Kendall Club for a $100 donation to help send a child to the camp.
"We decided, 'No, we're going to do this entire golf tournament and give it to the camp, instead of just $100,'" Kent said.
The golf tournament has been held for 18 years, with proceeds being donated to various organizations throughout the county. In addition to the golf tournament, the Kendall Club also donates to other organizations throughout the year.
O'Brian said the camp was excited to receive the donation, which was presented directly after campers had dinner.
The Kendall Club, Police Benevolent Association was formed in 1928 as a social organization and named for Officer George Kendall. In the 1950s, it became the Jamestown Police Department's official union. The Kendall Club is well known throughout the Jamestown area for supporting many area youth activities including Bambino league baseball, the Boys and Girls Club and youth soccer teams.
Camp Onyahsa is located at 5411 East Lake Road in Dewittville. Additional information about the camp, as well as options to donate can be found at: www.onyahsa.org.
