A Jamestown woman was charged Tuesday after police say she punched her 9-year-old grandchild.
Judith Griffin, 56, was charged with disorderly conduct, second-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a child. According to a police report, officers responded around noon to 112 Falconer St. for a report of a domestic incident involving a child.
Officers spoke to the victim, who told police her grandmother allegedly punched her.
The child ran upstairs to neighbors and called police.
The 9-year-old told officers she was punched twice with a closed fist in the chest area by Griffin, who was also swearing at her during the incident, police said.
Police said they found Griffin to be intoxicated during their investigation and she was also disorderly and swearing at officers. She was transported to Jamestown City Jail where she was charged.
Griffin was released on probation and is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court on Sept. 19, a court clerk said.
