The 16-under Jamestown Tigers split a pair of games while competing in the Mentor (Ohio) Firecracker Classic on Friday.
In game one, the Northeastern Rebels downed the Tigers, 9-6, as Evan Grey connected for two hits, Koby Carder added an RBI double and Chris Haase and Bryce Raymond both had RBIs.
Things were much different in game two as the Tigers posted an 11-0 shutout over the Kingsville Rengades.
Carder shined on the mound for Jamestown, pitching a two-hitter, while going the distance with six strikeouts and two walks.
Offensively, Raymond drilled three hits and drove in a run, Haase added two hits with three RBIs and Jeffery Miller and Brandon Johnson both had two hits with an RBI.
With the win, the Tigers will play today, but their opponent had not yet been determined.
CITY REC LEAGUE PLAYOFFS
Zach Breeding, Josh Tonkin, Christian Frankiewicz and James Fiorella had two hits with a double as the Affinty One Blue Jays stopped the Fancher Chair Tigers, 12-1, in the first round of the playoffs.
Elijah Kester had two hits with a two-run home run for the winners, who next play the Yankees at 9:30 a.m. at Nordstrom Park today.
Felena Santiagi and Javonte Turner split four hits in defeat.
