MAPLE SPRINGS - The most beautiful gardens Maple Springs has to offer will soon be on display.
The third annual Maple Springs Garden Walk and Garden Chic Boutique will be held, rain or shine, on July 13. The event takes place at The Circle in Maple Springs, and runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"The garden walk is something that we do in house down here," Bob Terreberry said. "It's not big like the Audubon walk, but it's a nice event for people to get out and see something nice. ... This is our third annual, and all the money we raise goes toward the carousel at Midway State Park. So far, we've raised over $3,000 for its restoration."
Bob and Irene Terreberry display items sold at last year’s Garden Walk and Garden Chic Boutique event.
Last year, 150 guests attended the event. Though Terreberry said the event began in a community based, grassroots manner, it has become popular with gardening enthusiasts and hobbyists.
According to Terreberry, there will be 15 gardens on display for guests to view. In addition to the gardens, there will also be food and drink available, and garden and decorative themed items will also be available for purchase.
"We will also have a Garden Chic display: selling things for peoples' porches, but also garden decorations, pots and plants - things of that nature," said Terreberry.
Additionally, a hot dog cookout for the event will begin at 11 a.m. Tickets for the event are $5 presale and $7 at the event. Presale tickets can be purchased from Bob Terreberry, Patty Eckwahl and Eileen Leary, either at the July 6 parade, or the community meeting.
Immediately following the garden walk, a dedication ceremony will be held for the Whiteside Hotel historical marker.
"When the historical society wanted to hold a dedication ceremony for the historical marker, I suggested both events take place on the same day, so it could be one event," said Terreberry. "This way, people will already be there, and hopefully a few more will show up for the dedication."
