FALCONER - For the first time, the Falconer Region Community Fund awarded grants to four local organizations.
The fund was established at the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation to provide financial assistance to charitable projects and needs associated with nonprofit organizations, churches or public entities located in the Falconer Central School District.
Grants were awarded to Bethlehem Lutheran Church to replace a side entrance, the Falconer Central School District for the bicycle safety program, Falconer United Methodist Church to assist with energy efficiency improvements and Kennedy Free Library for youth initiatives.
Maurice and Doris Roach, and Randy Sweeney present the first grant awards to representatives from Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Falconer Central School District, Falconer United Methodist Church and Kennedy Free Library.
On June 6, a reception was held at the Falconer Public Library to present checks to representatives from the four organizations.
In 2012, a group of residents from Ellington, Falconer and Kennedy were concerned with the future of charitable activity in their communities. Driven by Maurice Roach, lifelong Falconer resident and owner of Falconer Printing and Design, the Falconer Region Community Fund was established to provide the necessary financial support for organizations to continue doing good things in the community.
