SYRACUSE - Senior outfielder Nick Hart of Fredonia and his coach, Vince Gullo, received the highest honors in Class B baseball by the New York State Sportswriters Association.
Hart was named the Player of the Year and Gullo was selected the Coach of the Year .
Hart batted . 435 with 40 hits, scored a school-record 47 runs and swiped 26 bases as the Hillbillies won the state Class B title with a 26-2 record, including 17 in a row to start the season.
This marked the second state title for Fredonia and the first since 2006.
Senior Tyler Swanson of Pine Valley was chosen as a pitcher on the Class D first team.
Other Fredonia players who were honored include senior pitcher Trent Thompson, second team; senior catcher Zach Buckley, third team; sophomore pitcher Cameron Voss, fourth team; and senior outfielder Jude Gardner, sixth team.
Senior pitcher Kenny Oakes of Cassadaga Valley was selected to the second team in Class C and senior infielder Spencer Sticek of Pine Valley had that same honor in Class D.
Senior catcher Zach Wood of Class C champion Portville was named to third team. Meanwhile, chosen to the fourth team were junior infielder Tage Johnson of Frewsburg and sophomore pitcher Nolan Hunt of Westfield. On fifth team was Westfield senior catcher Jon Coe and junior infielder Justus Elliott of Portville. Senior pitcher Matt Hallowell of Cassadaga Valley was on the sixth team and senior pitcher Will Lucas and junior infielder Colin Stack of Maple Grove round out the Class C selections on the seventh team.

In Class D, on the third team, were seniors pitcher Trevor Enterline of Ripley and Scot Laurie of Brocton. Junior infielder Winfred Nelson of Pine Valley and senior infielder Jordan Patterson of Brocton made the fourth team. On the fifth team were senior pitcher Kyle McIntyre of Panama and junior hurler Ryan Robson of Sherman.
