OTTO - Francis J. Manning, 84, a retired mail room and maintenance man for Gowanda Psychiatric Center died Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at his home.
He was born Sept. 14, 1928, in Buffalo, N.Y., the son of the late Frank and Mildred (Becker) Manning.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Manning of Otto; his three nieces: Kathy (Lauren) Bird, Debbie (Paul) Lamphier of Otto, and Sandi (Alan) Hubbard of Pittsfield, Mass.; his two nephews: Jamie (Patti) Harrison of Hilton Head, S.C., and Keith (Terri) Kriedeman of Monroe, N.C.; two great-nieces; four great-nephews; several great-great-nieces and nephews.
Dorothy and Francis would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Oct. 17, 2013. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict having attained the rank of private first class and enlisted on Jan. 22, 1953, at Buffalo, N.Y., and discharged on Jan. 22, 1955, at Ft. McPherson, Ga.
Funeral service and committal service will be held Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 3 p.m. at East Hill Cemetery Otto East Otto Road, Otto, N.Y. The Rev. Michael R. Jones of Roberts Memorial Free Methodist Church will be officiating.
