The Josephine Fenton Scholarship winners performed for the Mozart Club at their recent annual meeting. Caroline Stafford, chairwoman of the scholarship committee, introduced the following students.
First-place winner Sarah Leon, daughter of Robert and Sandra Leon, performed on her violin, "Bela Bartok's Roumajian Folk Dances," accompanied by Zac Ricker. A Jamestown high school senior, she has been honored with the Jacobsen Scholarship, and area All State Band in 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012. She also plays the oboe and clarinet and sings in the A Cappella Choir. She plans to attend Grove City College to major in music education.
Zane Franco, son of Julie Franco, second place, performed on his clarinet, accompanied by Cindy Hanson. A senior at Jamestown High School, he was JHS concert band principal clarinetist for three years, 2013 Concert Band concerto winner, accepted to area All State for three years, All County for eight years, was JHS Marching Band drum major for two years and received the Northeast Color Guard Circuit President's Award for 2013. He also is a vice-president and member of the tenor section in the A Cappella Choir. He has been accepted to the SUNY Fredonia School of Music.

Zac Ricker, son of Michelle and Bob Ricker, incentive winner, is a sophomore at Jamestown high school. He performed on the piano, studying currently with Ron McEntire and formerly with Gail Grundstrom. He also is a percussionist in the concert and marching bands at JHS, plays piano and ukulele in ensembles at Infinity Performing Arts and performs at various community functions.
