PANAMA - Even though Serendipity Fitness and Tanning has moved its Panama location, the only change for clients will be switching the side of the street on which they park.
The fitness and tanning shop has moved across the street to 1 W. Main St. from 2 W. Main St. Misty Hadley, Serendipity Fitness and Tanning owner, said she bought the business in December from Valerie Pedigo. She said she worked for Pedigo when the business was known as The Studio On Main.
"She wanted to close, so I offered to buy her out," Hadley said.

Now as the owner, Hadley wanted a change as she begins her career as a business owner. This is one reason why she moved the business across the street.
"I just though it was time to start fresh. A time to start new," she said. "My husband (Mark) and I took a look (at the new location) and thought about it a week, and said, 'Lets take a chance.'"
Hadley said it has been a challenge to be a business owner. However, she likes the new challenge, and so far it has been working out as she is receiving more and more clients.
"I like that I can say it is mine. If I think of an idea I can put it into place, I don't have to ask approval," she said. "I'm my own boss."
Hadley said she also enjoys meeting new people, and has enjoyed the new friendships she has started from people there to workout or get a tan.
"When you come in I know your name, and I enjoy everyone who comes in," she said. "I don't try to compete with the bigger businesses. We're a small town. When you come in, we will greet you with a friendly attitude. We want to be your friend; you're just not a number to us."
The fitness center has all the necessary workout equipment a gym can offer. As for tanning, Serendipity offers both bed and booth tanning areas. Hadley also has tanning products available.
In the evenings, exercise classes are available. The classes include hula hoop, Zumba, yoga, martial arts and women's self-defense. Hadley said martial arts classes are held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, and the other classes are held during the week at 6 p.m. Classes are about an hour long.
As for new things at the new location, Hadley said she wants to hold more exercise classes. Also, Thirty-One products like purses, tote bags and wallets will be available.
A grand opening will be held this week at Serendipity to celebrate the new location. Hadley said she will be offering specials like $25 for tanning or fitness for a month. She often offers specials for clients, which people can learn about by visiting the business Facebook page.
Serendipity is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. For more information, call 621-4000.
