Gregory Allen Zuroski passed away on May 16, 2013, at the age of 62. Son of Josephine Boccardi and Frank Zuroski, Gregory was born in Rome, N.Y., on May 15, 1951, and grew up in Bemus Point, N.Y., a loving older brother to Ellen, Christopher and John.
A proud graduate of Cornell University (Bachelor of Arts) and the University of Michigan (Master of Arts, Chinese Studies), he lived in Penfield, N.Y., from 1980 to 1997, working first for Catholic Chari-ties of the Diocese of Rochester, and then as director of development at Allendale Columbia School. From 1997 to 2013, he lived in Riverdale, N.Y. He served as director of development at Friends Academy in Locust Valley, vice president of external affairs at the Brooklyn Children's Museum, and, most recently, director of alumni relations at the Horace Mann School. Since 2006, he served on the board of the Greater New York Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Profes-sionals.
Gregory was well known for his warmth and generosity, his devotion to education and building communities, and his deep love for books, music, shared meals, conversation, travel, friends, and family.
He shared his life with his wife of 40 years, Patricia Zuroski; his daughters: Eugenia (Derek Jenkins), Kathryn and Emma (An-drew Norman); and his granddaughter, Ruby.
He is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, son-in-law, father- in-law, brother-in-law, colleague and friend.
A funeral mass was held at Visitation Parish in the Bronx at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 20.
A graveside committal service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23, in the Bemus Point Cemetery. The Rev. John Kuhlmann will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Gregory's name to support Horace Mann's performing arts department, 231 W. 246th St., Bronx, NY 19471. Donations may also be made to Visitation Par-ish in Gregory's memory.
