CATTARAUGUS - Cattaraugus-Little Valley scored five runs in the home half of the first inning and strong pitching from Justin Forster and Sam Agnew did the rest as the Timberwolves defeated Division 2 opponent Salamanca, 8-3.
The game was the fourth in as many days for Cattaraugus-Little Valley (9-6, 6-6).
After Matt Crandall smacked a two-run double in the first to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead, the Timberwolves immediately answered as Kyle O'Donnell hit an RBI single and then Matt Hanft, with the bases loaded, drove in two runs with another single.
During the play, Hanft's hit scooted by the left field, allowing another run (and eventually Hanft from first) to come around to score.
Forster earned the victory on the mound after fanning six and walking two over four innings. He then gave way to Agnew, who over the next three frames sent down seven on strikes while issuing only one walk.
For Salamanca, which managed six hits, Mike Morris legged out three infield singles.
