A Jamestown man is in city jail after drug investigators seized crack cocaine and cash Wednesday.
Joseph S. Zaso, 29, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance following a traffic stop at the intersection of Cole Avenue and South Main Street.
According to Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department, investigators and members of the State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team made the traffic stop at 11:22 a.m. Zaso, a passenger in the vehicle, was found to be in possession of 3 ounces of cocaine and $2,000.
Three ounces of cocaine and $2,000 was confiscated from a Jamestown man following a traffic stop Wednesday.
Police believe the drugs were to be sold within the city.
"Rarely do we find this amount of cocaine. It was a lot," Samuelson said. "It's yet another example of great teamwork in making a dent on the local trafficing and sale of cocaine."
Samuelson would not comment on the traffic stop that led to Zaso being taken into custody, but said it was a planned investigation by local and state police.
The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected, Samuelson said.
Zaso was taken to Jamestown City Jail and was awaiting arraignment.
