Once again, the eighth-grade students in Renee Mitchener's art class and high school students in Jenny Brown's art classes at Southwestern Central School are participating in the Empty Bowls Project. Throughout its history, the Empty Bowls Project has raised millions of dollars to aid in the fight against hunger in various communities throughout the nation. This project however, serves multiple purposes. It raises money for hunger-related agencies, supports art education in the community and increases community awareness of hunger.
All proceeds for this event will go to St. Susan Center of Jamestown. St Susan Center provides a nutritional lunchtime meal every day to people from our community.
Through this project, students have learned about many ways they can help their neighbors who might be in need.
The Empty Bowls Sale will be held during the SWCS High School Lawn Social Tuesday, May 21, from 5-6:30 p.m. All bowls will be sold for a minimum donation of $5.
