BLOSSVALE - Drew Chaddock shot a 4-over-par 74 at the McConnellsville Golf Club on Monday to lead Jamestown Community College to first place at the NJCAA Region 3 Division III Golf Tournament.
The Jayhawks shot a 315 team total in the event that concludes today at the Oneida Community Golf Club.
Monroe CC is second with 329 followed by Genesee CC with 339, Onondaga CC with 342, Broome CC with 348 and Jefferson CC with 348 to round out the top six.
Chaddock was one shot behind the individual leader, Chad Call of Jefferson, who shot a 73.
Chaddock had three birdies, all on the back nine in tough conditions.
''We saw a little bit of everything today,'' JCC coach Brett Mucheck said. ''Rain, sun, snow and lot of wind.''
Jordan Farnham and Brenton Wilcox had 80s for the Jayhawks and are tied for ninth. Jake Yartz carded an 81 and is tied for 12th while Andrew Bird is in 18th place after an 85.
The top two teams in the event qualify for the NJCAA Division III National Tournament on the Lake Course at Chautauqua Golf Club June 4-7. JCC will be in the field anyway as the host team, but the Jayhawks' goal is to earn their berth by finishing in the top two of the regionals.
At invitationals during the season, JCC finished first three times, second five times and fourth once.
