Jamestown Community College made easy work of Corning CC on the way to securing a doubleheader sweep at Diethrick Park on Saturday.
The Jayhawks, who improved to 18-22 overall and 17-12 in NJCAA Region 3 Division III play, blanked one-win Corning in the opener, 24-0, and then took the nightcap, 16-4.
Both games were called in the fifth inning due to the 10-run rule.
Jamestown racked up a combined 27 hits - 14 in the first contest and 13 in the second.
JCC sent 22 batters to the plate during the game-clinching 16-run second inning in Game 1.
The Jayhawks would add two more runs in the third inning and another six in the sixth.
Christian VanNote went 3-for-5 with three runs scored; Elio Gonzalez had two hits, including a double, with three runs scored; Connor Borowski hit a double and drove in two; Kody Kondrilk chipped in with a two-run home run and reached base four times; and Jose Hernandez drove in four runs to go with his three hits and three runs scored.
Jake Harford was the winning pitcher as he struck out four, walked two and scattered three hits.
Jamestown enjoyed another big inning during the nightcap.
The Jayhawks plated 11 runs in the third inning alone, and reached the winning margin by the end of the fourth.
Thomas Hearst went the distance to earn the victory. He allowed eight hits, four walks and four runs (three earned) while fanning four.
VanNote led at the plate once again, going 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs. The sophomore belted a three-run home run in the fourth inning.
Borowski also hit a round-tripper - his came in the third inning - while Kondrilk was a perfect 3-for-3, Greg Marco 2-for-3 with an RBI and Hernandez 2-for-2 with a double and a pair of RBIs.
Jamestown is on the road against Finger Lakes CC today for its final doubleheader of the season. The first game is set for 1 p.m.
