Area residents looking to get away, without having to go too far, have a golden opportunity awaiting in Erie, Pa.
Chris Scott, vice president and owner of Scott Enterprises, a family-owned business headquartered in Erie which owns hotels, restaurants, resorts and entertainment businesses, says that regardless of the time of year, his organization provides a number of fun opportunities throughout Erie County.
According to Scott, Erie is home to a very popular tourist destination that entertains more than 400,000 guests each year, and it's called Splash Lagoon.
Area residents are shown above at the third largest indoor water park in the country, Splash Lagoon in Erie, Pa. Guests at Peek’n Peak are shown below enjoying the new Segway Scenic Adventures.
"Slash Lagoon is the third largest indoor water park in the country," said Scott. "One thing that's nice about it is that it is always 86 degrees inside, so even if it's overcast, raining outside or you want to get out of the sun, you can come to Splash Lagoon and walk around in your shorts anytime of the year."
The water park features an indoor wave pool, a lazy river, nine wild slides, extreme rides, lazer tag, an arcade with more than 100 games and a ropes course. It's even got a place specifically designed for kids to enjoy.
Splash Lagoon is much more than a water park, says Scott - it's a resort. In addition to slides and rides, guests have access to a number of resort amenities such as the Laguna Grill restaurant, Island Oasis Bar, the Sweet Shop candy store and three hotels directly connected to the park.
"It's all about families," said Scott. "We've got everything from zero-point entry pools for toddlers to high-speed body slides for thrill seekers."
Splash Lagoon is currently celebrating its 10-year anniversary. It is located at 8091 Peach St. in Erie. For more information call 866-377-5274 or visit www.splashlagoon.com.
Scott Enterprises also owns Peek'n Peak resort and spa, which is a popular destination for winter sports enthusiasts in Findley Lake. But, much like Splash Lagoon, the resort offers rest and relaxation opportunities year-round.
The resort offers a wide selection of lodging opportunities, spa amenities, fine dining, two golf courses and the recent addition of Segway Scenic Adventures guided tours.
"People really love the Segway Scenic Adventures," said Scott.
Peek'n Peak will also host a Fall Festival in September and October that annually draws nearly 20,000 attendees. The festival will feature vendors, rock climbing walls, a car show, carriage horse rides and a petting zoo.
"We're also excited to host an Octoberfest style beer festival this year," said Scott.
