WESTFIELD - The Westfield Lady Wolverines (2-1, 2-4) scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally past Panama, 9-8, Tuesday in Division 3 softball.
The Lady Panthers scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning off a Jessica Leonard two-run single, but Westfield responded with three runs of its own in the bottom half for the win.
Westfield's Carson Hauser led off the bottom of the sixth with a single and scored on a Rachel Allen triple. Hillary Nelson then ripped an RBI single to score Allen and tie the score, 8-all. From there, Sarah Burgoon added her second RBI of the day as she drove in Nelson for the game-winning run.
Kathryn Catalano, Hauser, Allen, Burgoon and Savannah Rown each had two hits. Burgoon finished with three RBIs.
Leonard finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored in a losing effort.
DUGAN WINS DUEL
BEMUS POINT - Ryanne Dugan of Forestville outdueled MacKenzie Ellis of Maple Grove in an outstanding pitching duel.
Dugan hurled a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts and two walks while Ellis tossed a five-hitter with three strikeouts and two walks in a 2-1 win for Forestville (3-1).
The first run was a solo home run by Ashley VanBuskirk of Forestville in the third inning.
Maple Grove (3-1) tied it up in the fifth at 1-1 when Taylor Satalino walked and was sacrificed to second by Taylor Whalen and was brought in on Paige Bentham's single.
In the sixth, Forestville took the lead for good at 2-1 as Emily Markham singled in Cherish Pope, who had two singles.
Lauren Nickerson singled in the sixth for the other Maple Grove hit.
