NEW YORK - Ice Dreams, an Olympic ice show starring two-time Olympian and three-time U.S. national champion Johnny Weir plus a cast of national champions and aspiring local skaters will be at the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena on May 11 at 7p.m.
Joining Weir on the ice will be some of the top figure skating talent expected to compete in the Sochi Winter Games in 2014 including: U.S. national champion Max Aaron; Samantha Cesario, Junior Grand Prix medalist; Canadian national silver medalists Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier; and two-time Olympian and seven-time Estonian national champion Elena Glebova.
The show also offers young skaters from the Jamestown Skating Club, the Amherst Skating Club and other local rinks the chance to skate in the performance on the same ice as their Olympic heroes.
"We look forward to bringing this fun family show to figure skating enthusiasts throughout New England and allowing young skaters from the area the opportunity to participate in the show," said Tara Modlin-King, president of Fireworks Sports Marketing and the executive producer of Ice Dreams.
Weir, a three-time U.S. champion and two-time Olympian and world medalist, is one of the superstars of figure skating and emerging pop-culture icon. As the winner of both the 2008 and 2010 Readers' Choice Skater of the Year Award, he joins Michelle Kwan as the only two-time winner of the award. In addition to performing in shows and international competitions, Weir is the star of his own reality series, Be Good Johnny on the Logo Network which goes beyond the sequins to examine the outrageous and outspoken Lady Gaga of figure skating.
