The March meeting of the Chautauqua County American Legion was held at the William L. Travis Post 493 in Mayville.
Various committee reports were given, including one on homeless veterans and another on veterans' claims with the VA.
Mention was made of the selection of the Boy and Cub Scouts of the year which will be held on Sunday at the Lakewood Legion starting at 2 p.m. The Boys State orientation program will be held on June 2 at the John W. Dill Post in Brocton starting at 1 p.m.
A donation of $1,100 for the Veterans Van was presented by Fredonia Memorial Post 59. This donation was raised at the annual Car Cruise-In held at the Fredonia Post.
Sons of the American Legion County Kirk Tyler spoke on a number of subjects.
Dennis Ayers spoke on American Legion Baseball. The season runs from June 1 to July 28. Sponsorships are requested from the various Legion Posts. A spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be held on May 5 at the Herman Kent Post 777 in Celoron. Anyone interested in this program is asked to contact Ayers at 267-5087.
