FALCONER - For the first time since coach Chris Schrader took over the baseball helm, he defeated Dunkirk in Division 1 baseball Monday.
Falconer broke a 5-5 tie with a six-run fourth inning on the way to a 14-7 win the league opener for both teams.
Gibson Stuart slammed a two-run double, Jimmy Schwab had a two-run single, Brandon Fish ripped an RBI single and the other runs crossed on an error during the six-run outburst that put the Golden Falcons ahead for good.
Dan Williamson was the winning pitcher and started off the fourth with a double. He wound up with three hits, including two doubles. Stuart and Schwab added two hits with Schwab finishing with three RBIs and Williamson joining Stuart with two RBIs.
Fish also had two hits and Mike Wilcox a triple for the Golden Falcons, who matched Dunkirk by scoring four runs in the first inning.
Zak Mata relieved Williamson in the sixth and gave up two runs for Falconer. However, in the seventh he pitched a scoreless inning
Drew Messina went five innings for Dunkirk and picked up the setback.
Ryan Ruiz stroked three hits, Messina and Sam Pepe RBI doubles and Alex Kubera a single in the loss.
