FALCONER - It looked like Falconer had things under control, taking a huge lead early, but Dunkirk (0-1) fought back to get within a run as the Lady Golden Falcons (1-0, 1-3) held on for a 9-8 victory in Division 1 softball on Monday.
Falconer scored early and often and by the fifth, held a commanding 9-2 lead, but the Lady Marauders got a run back in the fifth and then exploded for five runs in the sixth, highlighted by a 3-run blast by Kelly Drummond.
Fortunately for the Lady Golden Falcons, Abbey Courtney got a popup fly for the first out in the seventh, then struck out the last two batters to seal the win. She also helped her own cause with three hits and scored twice while Shannon Gunnell added two hits and two RBIs and Allie Munella drove in two runs.

Joyce Bomasuto got the loss for Dunkirk with three strikeouts and two walks.
Khee Nance delivered a triple and a single with three runs scored, Sarah Hanlon had an RBI triple in sixth and Kati Hanlon connected for an RBI double.
FREDONIA TOPS SWCS
The bats were exploding as Fredonia downed Southwestern, 20-7, in Division 1 girls softball on Monday afternoon.
Fredonia smashed 20 hits and scored in every inning.
Savannah Rivera, Bre Dahn and Cassie Essek had three hits to spark the Lady Hillbillies. Rivera delivered a double among her hits.
Jenna Rauh, Taylor Brecht and Alex Sullivan belted out two hits for the Lady Trojans, who had 12 hits. Sullivan hit a triple and Brecht a double.
