National Boys & Girls Club Week will be celebrated April 8-13 at the Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys & Girls Club of Jamestown.
The club is located at 62 Allen St. and offers a wide variety of programming for youth and adults. This year's theme is "Open the Door, Take the Tour" and the local club has scheduled a week full of activities.
On Monday and Tuesday the registered after-school programs (kindergarten to eighth grade and teens) have special events planned each afternoon. Tuesday night members will be invited to sign thank-you notes in the art room for all the donors who support the club throughout the year. Wednesday will be "Wild, Wacky Tournament" night in both the teen and under-12 game rooms as well as the Computer Lab. Thursday is Family Night from 6-9 p.m. with swimming for families from 6:30-8:30 p.m. All children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Families will receive a gift bag for attending and there will be special games in the pool. Friday will feature a remote radio broadcast from 3-5 p.m. sharing interviews with staff, members, parents, adults, board members and alumni.
Throughout the week community members are invited to Open the Door, Take the Tour by stopping in at "the club" to see what is offered. On April 12, there will be a mini-carnival from 6-7 p.m. There will be refreshments in the community room and youth can visit each of the program areas to play a carnival game and win a prize.
