MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The fourth inning proved to be the downfall for the Frewsburg at the Grand Strand Softball Classic on Tuesday.
Frewsburg carried a 5-4 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning when Conway, S.C., scored four runs to take an 8-5 lead en route to a 11-6 victory.
Bethany Hudgins hit a two-run single to highlight the fourth inning for Conway.
Frewsburg scored two runs in the first inning on RBI singles by McKenzie Cass and Sam Mott.
The Bears added a run in the second on a triple by Emily Hair, who scored on an infield out by Reyanne Strong.
In the fourth, Alanna Blanchard walked and eventually scored on Strong's sacrifice fly for the Bears.
Frewsburg scored its final two runs in the fifth on an error and a single by Mott.
However, Conway scored the final three runs to clinch the game.
Mott gave up seven hits and eight walks while striking out eight. Blanchard pitched a scoreless inning in the loss.
Hair and Mott each delivered two hits for Frewsburg, which had nine hits.
The Bears (0-2) seeks its first win against Sherman, W.Va., at 10 a.m. today.
