The Jamestown Salvation Army will host several Easter week events, including a prayer walk today.
"Across Upstate New York, Salvation Army Centers are reaching out to those burdened with hunger, financial concerns, family issues or unemployment and inviting them to share the Passion of Good Friday to the joy of Christ's resurrection on Easter Sunday," said Major Karla Clark, general secretary of the Empire State Division of The Salvation Army. "Christ's death enabled us to re-connect with our God. We invite those who feel separated from God to join us."
Today's prayer walk, "Footstep to Calvary," will allow people to feel, smell, taste and see the events that led to the cross and resurrection of our savior, said Maj. Judy Hart of the Jamestown Salvation Army. "People can come in at any time between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m."
On Thursday, the Army will host a last supper with conversation and reminders of Christ's love. On Good Friday, there will be a worship service at 6 p.m.
On Easter Sunday, there will be breakfast at 9 a.m., an Easter egg hunt and devotions at 9:45 a.m., followed by family worship at 10:30 a.m.
The Salvation Army is located at 83 South Main St., Jamestown. For more information, call 664-4108.
