Petitions will be available beginning on Friday in the superintendent's office, Jamestown City School District, 197 Martin Road, Jamestown, for the Board of Education election on May 21. Two board seats are open - each for a three-year term. The terms will begin July 1.
Any individuals interested in becoming candidates must submit completed petitions containing the names of 100 or more qualified voters within the school district. These must be received in the superintendent's office by 5 p.m. on May 1.
To qualify as a candidate, a person must be a citizen of the United States and a registered voter of the Jamestown City School District who has resided in said district for at least one year prior to the date of the election.
The election will be held on May 21. Registration day for non-registered voters will be held on May 7 from noon to 9 p.m. in the administration building.
All qualified voters residing in the city of Jamestown who are registered voters and still reside in the same location, or all qualified voters residing outside the city of Jamestown but within the confines of school districts formerly known as Kiantone No. 3 and Busti No. 7 and who still reside at the same address are entitled to vote at the annual school election. All other voters must present themselves in person before the district clerk, with proof of identity and proof of address, on May 7 in order to be entitled to vote on May 21.
